Upcoming Weekend Fun in the Ottawa area

With the 38th edition of Winterlude starting this weekend, there are tons of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy in the Ottawa area over the weekend!!

Friday January 29th:

  • Come skate on the Sens Rink of Dreams at City Hall from 6am to 11pm (FREE)
  • Learn how to curl at Lansdowne Park on the outdoor skating rink from 4 to 8pm (FREE)
  • If you have a child between the age of 5 and 8, have them try downhill skiing at Jacques Cartier Park from 9am to 4pm (FREE)
  • Come celebrate winter at Snowflake Kingdom in Jacques Cartier Park from 9am to 9pm with superslides, a kiddie zone, kicksleds, a giant 3D little care course and giant games. You can also meet the Ice Hog family! (FREE)
  • Come out to celebrate the launch of Winterlude at Confederation Park starting at 7pm with pyrotechnics, music, dancing and much more…! (FREE)
  • Thomas & Friends – Explore the Rails special exhibition is starting today through May 1st at the Chidren’s Museum ($$)

Saturday January 30th:

  • Start your day with a FREE pancake breakfast and hot chocolate at Marion Dewar Plaza, Ottawa City Hall starting a 10am
  • Come out to the Sens Rink of Dreams either to skate or to watch a unique skating show “Enbridge Energy on Ice” at 11:30am, 1:30 and 3:30pm (FREE)
  • Learn how to curl at Lansdowne Park on the outdoor skating rink from noon to 4pm (FREE)
  • Come celebrate winter at Snowflake Kingdom in Jacques Cartier Park from 9am to 9pm with superslides, a kiddie zone, kicksleds, a giant 3D little care course and giant games. You can also meet the Ice Hog family! (FREE)
  • If you have a child between the age of 5 and 8, have them try downhill skiing at Jacques Cartier Park from 9am to 4pm (FREE)
  • Come test your hockey skills at the Giant Tiger Interactive Hockey Zone on the Rideau Canal Skateway at Fifth Avenue from 11am to 4pm (FREE)
  • Come out to the Gatineau Park at the Visitor Centre (33 Scoot Road in Chelsea) at 1:30pm to go on a 2 hour guided snowshoe hike to see how animals survive in winter (FREE)
  • Thomas & Friends – Explore the Rails special exhibition at the Children’s Museum is having special activities for the opening weekend of the exhibition from 10am to 4pm ($$)
  • Ottawa Family Expo will be on from 10 to 4pm at Hazeldean mall with workshops and fun for the whole family! There will also be a presentation by Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo at 1pm ($$)
  • Pixels will be playing in Cineplex movie theaters across the city as part of Cineplex Saturday Family Movies
  • Fairytale Princess Parties is hosting a Princess PJ Party from 5 to 8 at the Kanata Recreation Complex ($$)

Sunday January 31st:

  • Come out to the Sens Rink of Dreams either to skate or to watch a unique skating show “Enbridge Energy on Ice” at 11:30am, 1:30 and 3:30pm (FREE)
  • TechnoSnow brought to you by the Canadian Science and Technology Museum will be at Marion Dewar Plaza from 10am to 4:30pm with tons of fun activities (FREE)
  • Learn how to curl at Lansdowne Park on the outdoor skating rink from noon to 4pm (FREE)
  • Celebrate winter at Snowflake Kingdom in Jacques Cartier Park from 9am to 9pm with superslides, a kiddie zone, kicksleds, a giant 3D little care course and giant games. You can also meet the Ice Hog family! (FREE)
  • Test your hockey skills at the Giant Tiger Interactive Hockey Zone on the Rideau Canal Skateway at Fifth Avenue from 11am to 4pm (FREE)
  • Help attempt to break the Guiness World Record for the most snowmen built in one hour on the filed at TD Place from 10am to 1pm (FREE)
  • If you have a child between the age of 5 and 8, have them try downhill skiing at Jacques Cartier Park from 9am to 4pm (FREE)
  • Come out to the Gatineau Park at the Visitor Centre (33 Scoot Road in Chelsea) at 10:30am to go on a 2 hour guided snowshoe hike to see how animals survive in winter (FREE)
  • Spend the day at the War Museum learning about forts and build a giant fort out of Mega Bloks. Kids can also build an edible fortress to take home. Awesome Forts will be on from 10am to 4pm ($$)
