Family Friendly Activities During Christmas Break

With Christmas Break in full swing, here are some great activities to keep your children busy during the holidays.

 

The Gatineau Playground Festival will be back for its 4th edition from December 27th to 30th from 10am to 5pm at the Complexe Branchaud-Briere in Gatineau. There will be a

  • 26 inflatable structures
  • 2 roller coasters
  • UNIGYM gymnastics zone
  • Squash Outaouais zone from dec. 27 – 29 décembre from 11 am  to 3 pm
  • Sports zone with  an introduction to soccer and baseball
  • A Skating Zone

 

Come enjoy a FREE public skate on the Ottawa 67’s ice with family and friends for the perfect winter afternoon activity! Free public skate will take place on December 27th from 11am to 2pm and on January 3rd from 2pm to 4pm at TD Place.

 

The holidays are the best time to spend with family and what better way to shine than on a glowing rink together. GlowSport will be hosting 2 Glow Skate sessions during the Christmas break at the RA Centre. The first one will be on December 27th from 10:30am to 11:30am and the 2nd on January 4th from 10:30am to 11:30am.

 

The Zoo Crew will be having 2 holiday drop ins on Thursday Dec 27th and Sunday Dec 30th from 9am to 1pm.  Come get some animal time in without any commitment. Meet and interact with all the furry, feathered, scaly and shelled friends.

 

Magic of Lights at Wesley Clover Parks from 5:30pm to 10pm will be on until January 5th.  Magic of Lights is a 2 kilometer drive through with nearly one million twinkling lights of spectacular displays and animations. Tickets are 20$ per car.

 

Come out to Parliament Hill to watch magical winter lightscapes show that will be presented  from 5:30 pm to 11pm until January 7th. The show follows the journey of Grizzli, Fox and Snowman through imaginary landscapes on the question of light.

 

Sens Skills presented by Sports Chek will be happening at the CTC on January 3rd starting at 7pm. Sens Skills is a charitable, fun-filled, family-oriented event that features Senators players being split into two teams and competing against each other in six different skills’ events in support of educational initiatives in the region, the NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund and the Ottawa Senators Foundation.

 

Take a free snowshoe hike in the Gatineau Park on January 4th with a nature guide to find animal tracks and learn how they live in the winter. This activity is 2 hours long and aimed for kids 8 and older.

 

Don’t miss Ottawa Musicals’ 5th annual holiday musical, Cinderella and the Ice Slipper at the Gladstone Theatre from December 28th to January 6th.

 

The Children’s Museum will have tons of great activities for kids to enjoy during Christmas break including A Medieval Holiday Break where families travel back in time to a world of kings and queens!
