5 Kid Friendly Beaches in the Ottawa area

Brittania Beach on Carling Avenue is located on the Ottawa River at Brittania Bay. The beach is maintained by the city of Ottawa and is great for the whole family to enjoy. After hours of fun in the water, your kids will be able to play on the play structure or run in the many fields around the beach.  Lifeguards are on duty from June 18th to August 28th 2022. Amenities include washrooms, showers, picnic tables and free parking.

Petrie Island in Orleans has 2 great public beaches. Both beaches are maintained and supervised by the city of Ottawa.  They will be officially opened and supervised from June 18th to August 28th 2022. Amenities include change rooms, water fountains, shaded picnic area and public washrooms. Gas barbecues are permitted in the picnic area, but not on the main beach.  Open fires are not permitted.

Mooney’s Bay Beach on Riverside Drive is one of the most popular beaches in Ottawa. It offers tons of activities for the whole family to enjoy! The littles ones will love the playground while older children can enjoy a volleyball games or play some tennis of one of the tennis courts. Mooney’s Bay also has plenty of barbecue pits and picnic tables. Amenities include washrooms, change rooms as well as a paid parking. Mooney’s Bay is also set to be home of a new huge playground that will be more than half the size of a Canadian football field!

Westboro Beach is located on the Ottawa River at Kitchissippi Lookout. Amenities include a canteen, washrooms, change rooms, a swimming lane and free parking. There are also some walking trails if you are up for a walk in between two swims!

Breton Beach (Philippe Lake). If you are looking for a nice relaxing day out of the city, Breton Beach is the place to go! Itis located in the Gatineau Park approximately 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa. Besides spending hours of fun cooling of in the water or building sand castles, there are also many trails close by to go for fun walks in the Gatineau Park. Other amenities included washrooms, paid parking and picnic tables.
